Rich is beyond amazing. He has serviced the AC on my house multiple times and replaced the main unit. My water heater ruptured the other day, and he guided me over text on what to do because he was on another job. By that afternoon I had a new one installed. Then ON TOP of that, he donated his time and supplies to assess and fix the basement heating in our church. Not a lot of good left in the world. Rich is definitely one of the good ones.

My AC went out (luckily just a capacitor), and Rich came out to fix it same day and didn’t charge an arm and a leg. If you want the best and most trustworthy company for your HVAC needs look no further than Standard Air. Would recommend 10/10. :-)

Our furnace stopped working suddenly on a cold evening. House temperature started dropping. I checked everything I could but couldn’t get the heat back on. Neighbors swear by Standard Air so I contacted them and had someone out in under 30 minutes. Rich was amazing! Very courteous, explained everything to me, didn’t mind me asking a dozen questions. He checked everything and quickly found the problem, our thermostat had finally died. He installed a new one and in under hour from the time I called we had heat again. He took the time to explain the new smart thermostat, answered other heating/air questions I had, and was overall just a pleasant person to speak to. His prices were also VERY reasonable considering we called at 6pm on a Saturday requesting immediate service! No gimmicky service plans either! Rich and Standard Air have earned my business moving forward. I encourage everyone to check them out!

Our air stopped working so we called the company that installed the system. Mistake number 1. After they sent three different technicians over the course of two days, we are told we need to replace a $5000 part. They then say at that price you should just get a new unit. We just moved into this house and the unit is only 6 years old. We called Rich and Standard Air as soon as they left to get a second opinion. He came out the next morning and had us up and running in a couple hours for a fraction of the cost. The part they said needed replaced was working just fine. While Rich was here, we discussed a plumbing issue we were having and he said he could fix that as well. He was able to replace our water pressure regulator. Mistake 2 was Rich not being our first call. We recommend him to everyone that asks for an HVAC guy. He is incredibly knowledgeable, scheduling was a breeze, and you can count on him to show up.

Rich came out to our house a couple weeks ago to repair a PTAC unit in our converted garage apartment/in-law suite that had an issue. He quickly assessed the issue and had us back up and running in no time. I will be calling him in the future for all of our HVAC needs.

Rich Barnes is great. Called for a check up and he responded immediately, came out within days. Did a really thorough check of the unit, cleaned it and made sure it was running properly. Rich from Standard Air was fantastic! He was able to come out and service our unit the day after I contacted him. After looking at our unit and hearing our concerns, he was able to clean and service the HVAC system. He also determined part of our cooling issue was caused by a damper being closed to the upstairs. Rich and the Standard Air team were great to work with. He was very responsive, punctual, and professional. He helped us troubleshoot our Heat Pump during a cold weather spell and we figured out it was best to replace the whole unit. There was no pressure to make that decision and he gave me time to consider my options. I also really appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell me on anything like most commercial HVAC companies do. He got the materials quickly and the unit was installed in under three hours on a Sunday before a big snow storm. Rich at Standard Air takes pride in providing accurate, thorough troubleshooting service and making repairs with industry standard techniques. We were very pleased as he greatly exceeded all expectations when our 20+ year old A/C system failed to provide cooling. We called Rich, left a message and received a call back within 5 minutes. He came out to our home next morning at 08:00 and fully diagnosed and fixed the problem within 10 minutes. He could have easily convinced us to buy a new system but did not. While he could not tell us how much life span was left on our system, he assured us we could rely on him for quick service if needed in the future. Given his obvious superior knowledge, expertise, and customer rapport, we will certainly call him again when we need to replace our system.

I woke up to no air conditioning when the heat index was 106. Called Standard Air and he came over within 30 minutes even though it was his day off. The AC was fixed promptly and his prices were competitive. I’m very happy with his service and will always recommend him to neighbors!

I’m absolutely delighted by the level of communication, efficiency in scheduling, professionalism of the installers, and pricing provided by Standard Air. The only surprises we’ve experienced have all been positive - after the initial meeting with Rich, I was pleased that Standard could replace our crappy, old, locked-up energy hog within a week for a fair price. Even better was receiving a subsequent email letting me know that the installers could be here sooner at a time that was even more convenient for me. The guys arrived a little earlier than expected, which meant they actually working at the anticipated start time, which is really refreshing. Their polite friendliness and focus on the job was impressive - we have a really tight turn to get in and out of the basement (it’s like entering a staircase from the left wall of a Port-a-John sized closet) and it can’t have been easy to maneuver our old unit out and the new one in, but they didn’t seem daunted at all. The post-installation tour was delivered with the perfect level of detail and tone: I neither felt spoken down to or overwhelmed. That’s saying a great deal, and I’m impressed with everything from start to finish. No wonder Standard is so well reviewed around this area!

Rich Barnes the owner of Standard Air is very professional. Our gas fireplace wasn’t working and he came out the next day. After inspection he was able to quickly identify the problem, order the part, and fix our fireplace. He was professional and courteous, took the time to explain the problem, and make sure we understood the process. I contacted Standard Air on a Saturday afternoon and Rich Barnes came on a Sunday morning to check on my hot water heater. He was prompt, personable and extremely competent at his job. He was able to replace the thermostats for me and while here also inspected, cleaned and replaced the connector in my HVAC unit. His price is more than fair for the time and honest work that he does. In today’s world, it is extremely nice to find a repairman who is local, honest and affordable. Standard Air is well above standard in my book!

Very satisfied with service provided by Rich. He quickly disgnosed the problem, being a bad capacitor, and promptly replaced it. The A/C began working again! Then Rich explained changes that are coming about in the industry that will introduce complexity and cost in acquiring new systems. At my request, he took information from my two A/C units and will provide an estimate to have them replaced. These units have functioned beautifully for 22 years and with only minor problems (I had to replace three failed capacitors). I expect my systems would continue to perform well, but with changes required by new standards, I am leaning toward getting replacement systems now, before new standards take effect. This should save me money (materials and maintenance) and I suspect the systems will be more reliable than the newer systems coming to the market.

My ac stopped working on one of the hottest days of summer. I called Rich and was told that he would be at my house by 3:30pm. He showed up at 2:30pm and was done before he was originally supposed to show up! Incredibly prompt, polite, and an honest worker. Contacted Standard Air to request service for an 25+ years-old gas water heater. Rich Barnes identified the need for a new water heater and not only managed to secure a replacement the same day (was end of the work day), but also was able to install first thing the next morning. Rich was timely, professional, personable, and provided detailed explanations of the new install as well as the problems with the original water heater condition. Best of all, the price was very affordable for the new heater and service. Would highly recommend and I will definitely call again for any other HVAC or plumbing needs in the future.

Shout out to Rich Barnes. Our air handler stopped working last week and he came the next day and said the blower unit failed and was costly fix due to the age (14 year old). He recommended a new handler and heat pump. I got a 2nd quote and Rich’s was still better price, better unit, and better warranty. He put in the whole new unit and the same night our sump pump failed and realized our basement was beginning to flood due to all the rain. We text him at 7am and by 1030am he had a new sump pump and prevented further damage with all the extra rain that was coming that night

Rich is very knowledgeable about the HVAC units installed in the homes this area (Dumfries) and gave me good service when I called for a check-up and maintenance. He didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. However, the next day when my of my units failed (no fault of his own) he came by immediately and assessed the situation and was able to order just what I needed with no extras added. I trust Rich and will be using Standard Air as long as we live here.

I reached out to him after my terrible experience with Choice Home Warranty (not their technicians, just the service) and he listened to my confusing and frustrating story that left me without heat in my home for three weeks in November prior to his arrival into my mess of a situation. He walked me through his service call on-site. Showed me the issues. Explained how the issue likely happened. Provided several solutions - short term and long term. Discussed various HVAC brands, sizes for my home, benefits, warranty options, install dates….. etc. He is very transparent with his process. Stayed in communication up until the day he received the unit and arrived to install it. He arrived with his helper Darrius who was equally checked in to my issue and thorough to explain what he was going to work on. In short, this little paragraph does not describe just how satisfied I am with Rich and Darrius. I will be reaching back out for water heater replacement and gas log installation for sure. Had "Standard Air" replace one of my ancient HVAC systems last year then, back again recently, to replace 2nd one. Owner, Rich Barnes is everything you want a contractor to be(so grateful to find him!!)......Rich actually answers his phone(!), shows up when he says he's going to, stays on site, is mindful of your property, cleans up afterwards. In my case, a tiny slice of drywall had to be removed to accommodate the job. Rich was more concerned about it than I was,tbh but, he promptly sent over a drywall repair/painter dude who did an excellent job, as well. Rich also followed up with a text to make sure all was well. Also, he doesn't namby pamby around.....surveys your issue, will research options if need be, lets you know exactly "what's up", orders equipment and, gets the job done!!! Btw, if this matters to you, I think he might be only 1 of maybe 2(?) authorized dealers of Armstrong AC units in the area.....apparently is quality products or, he wouldn't mess with it(!?). Mr. Barnes is a very honest, hard working and kind person, who clearly cares about his customers. Reach out to him, if you're in need.....he'll get you squared away, no worries!!!

I’m so blessed to have come across this company. Rich Barnes responded to my HVAC which was barely working before the first heatwave of the summer. called rich because everyone in my old neighborhood swears by his company. wasn’t sure he’d come out to my new place but figured it was worth a try. he responded immediately and came over like the next day. he is a true professional. he diagnosed the issues and clearly laid out my options. I decided to replace both my upstairs and downstairs units. from when i decided to do it to when the job was done was like 4 days total and 2 of those were the weekend. he replaced all wires and stuff coming from the house which not everyone does. install looks awesome and works awesome too. he’s my HVAC dude from now on for sure.

We got to know Standard Air and Heating when we experienced a heating emergency. We came home from a road trip to an ICE BOX! We called Standard Air and they came out at 7AM on Christmas Eve! Not only did they provide a warm Christmas, but their price was extremely reasonable.
